This Thursday evening, hundreds of thousands of people will be
celebrating the date on which the person who didn’t write the Zohar
didn’t die.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
(Everyone who ordered the book from the museum website should have received it by now, and will be emailed the link for the launch. If you didn't receive your copy, please write to office@BiblicalNaturalHistory.org. For those who did not yet order the book, you can do so at https://www.biblicalnaturalhistory.org/product/rationalism-vs-mysticism/, and you will receive a Zoom link for the Sunday event.)
With that opening line you should have linked to the article you wrote 7 years ago on 5 things about Lag Ba'omer:

Thanks.
DeleteMazel Tov!
ReplyDeleteI'm still confused though how you can positively know he didn't die on that day. Did you perchance recently find an old rationalist manuscript which describes how he died on a different day, surrounded by all of his rationalist students?
Considering how many days are in the year, it's about a 350 to 1 shot.
Delete@Jewwell, you believe in plenty of things, maybe most things, not positively.
DeleteHe wasn't even a mystic. Why did they attribute the book to him!? Of all people!
DeleteFamous birthday problem in probability. How many people have to gather in a room so that the probability is greater than 50% that at least two of them have the same birthday? (secular calendar; same day only, not year also)
DeleteAns: 23. Much smaller than most people would guess.
@Shmuel
DeleteIt's all because of the hermit thing.
Samuel D, I know that. But that's a probability theory, sort of akin to saying ".01% risk" when it's not .01% of a population but .01% of *each person.* The odds are still tiny.
DeleteDear Rabbi Slifkin,
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to get it in France ?
Thanks
Will the video be recorded for future viewing?
ReplyDeleteSlifkin has no problem with medical apartheid
ReplyDeleteLike that school in Florida, no jobs for the vaccinated?
DeleteBar Yochai not dying on Lag Baomer is as relevant to the celebration as the fact Presidents Day isn't exactly their birthdays. We are celebrating the tanna and mysticism in general, not their specific day or writings.
ReplyDeleteHey, let's promote your work, Rabbi Slifkin!

Great interview!
