An Avoidable Tragedy

This is Rotem Amitai.

She was a 43-year old mother of three children who worked as a flight attendant with El Al.

Four months ago, after working on an El Al flight from JFK to Tel-Aviv, she contracted measles from someone on the flight.

Although Rotem had been inoculated as a child, she had only received one dose (which in those days was thought sufficient), which does not give the highest degree of immunity. As a result, she contracted measles from someone on the flight who had measles as a result of not being vaccinated. This led to her developing meningoencephalitis and she slipped into a coma.

This morning, she passed away.

What a senseless, utterly preventable tragedy.

The anti-vaxxers have a lot to answer for.

  1. Is that supposed to be a rational response?

You are of course aware that the vaxers retort will be to list some kids who dies as a result of the vaccine with the dire comment 'the vaxers have a lot to answer for'.

Hysterics should never appear on a blog.

    1. the difference is statistic, vaccination complications (including a majority of minor complications) occur in one of 600000 vaccinations, deadly complications of measles in one of 500 cases, beside permanent disabilities like incontinence and paralysis in about 30% of the cases.

    2. Thats utter nonsense. Quote your source. I worked for Hospital without Walls as a field physician for years and didn't see a single fatality among many cases of measles. Even this case in question the just hospital just released a statement that she contracted a "super-bug" in the hospital leading to her demise.

    3. There's nothing wrong with that. Whats in question here is why the government is mandating a specifically branded cocktail containing a mix of 3 viruses. And without subjecting it to normal safety trials then enforcing it, without parental consent, while removing single Measles Strain Vaccines from the shelves without any explanation. And whats also disturbing is if you Google "Bill Gates", he has a series of youtube lectures advocating it as one mechanism for "depopulation". So this particular product may have long-term harmful ingredients.

Hospitals are breeding-grounds for treatment-resistant super-bugs.

  6. Measles is not a lethal disease. At the same time legislators are attempting to remove Jewish religious rights, the CDC in conjunction with Merck have harvested Measles Viruses unlike the wild strains. They then, via mandated vaccination cocktails, have introduced Lab strains of Measles into Jewish communities, with the assistance of Merck bribes to the yeshivas, legislators, and naive community doctors. Merck has been exempt by the FDA any requirement for safety studies or idenitification of the harvested Measles dispersed via the MMR. Contracting an unknown virus-genome harvested by Merck of unknown potency would require a one-week period of bed-rest in a darkened room, fluids and vitamins. Believing one can continue life as normal while "shaking it off" could be lethal.Rotem was just another victim of Big Pharma.

  7. Recall that the narrative is not about physicians administering single-strain attenuated Measles Virus to appropriate populations. Its about pulling the single-strain Measles Vaccines from the shelves and mandating cocktails of three unrelated viruses. Then mandating this triple-virus to the entire population irrespective of their age or immune-status. Including infants as young as 6 months previously deemed unsafe. Then failing to show prospective safety tests and exercising caution and restraint in high-risk individuals such as those with previous vaccine injury. Then granting immunity to Merck against injury-liability. Requiring the government to use tax-payer funds to allocate $2 Billion to settle injury-liability claims. And failing to notify vaccine-recipients that they shed live virus for 10 days or more through body fluids - explainining why the outbreaks of Measles and Mumps are occuring in clusters in the very communities receiving MMR (including those individuals recently vaccinated). Then defunding physicians who report it. No surprise that many Merck employees refuse to vaccinate their kids. But the population has been well indoctrinated to believe that Measles is being spread by healthy children a result of which they're being expelled from yeshivas and socially ostracised. In short, Rotem's death is a tragedy. But let's pause before assigning blame.

They're at home or in the street, thanks to "frum" Principals, unable to learn Torah. Seeing the level of cooperation by Jewish Mosrim, Albany has quickly moved to their next step - forcing a secular curriculum on Yeshivas. Having initially accepted large financial incentives from Merck to support the Vax movement, Aggudas Yisroel have now put out a formal apology to the Orthodox Community, admitting that they "were taken". having just experienced two grandchildren change from healthy kids to miseable ones with poor appetite and {in one case] repeated pneumonia after the MMR vaccine it is not easy to say these injections are free of problems.

Yes if you want to rant and rave about the 'stupid wicked anti-vaxxers' you are free to make a three year old style response, but I would love to see an adult response that actually takes a balanced look. measles causes problems that's true. but the incidence of measles and of problems was in sharp decline long before the vaccine. and when you get to very low incidence then the problems of the vaccine itself, given to the whole population, become significant. It's a delicate balance and I don't know the answer myself. I'm just not a ranter and raver.

  14. Although I pity this poor girl, the fact is that she dead DESPITE she was duly vaccinated.
Therefore vaccination does got provide a warranty.
I do vaccinate my children, but generally speaking I don't understand what is a sin (from the rationalist approach) to be skeptical about vaccination.
BTW I am familiar with one old man who became disabled by vaccination against flu, which is promoted so much in last years.

    1. She was not "duly vaccinated." She only had one dose (since 2 doses weren't required at the time). 1 dose doesn't give full immunity. Vaccines work when they're given properly. Your skepticism is unwarranted. And nobody said vaccines have no side effects, just that they work the vast, vast majority of the time. Those few exceptions aren't enough to discourage vaccinating.

    2. Missing the main point. If everyone is vaccinated, then everyone is better protected.

  15. For all those who are blaming the victim: the basic recommendation for an adult with no proof of immunity or prior vaccination is a single dose of MMR. People generally are immunized as children and go with the recommendations made at that time. The only reason that she would possibly have been recommended to get a second shot as an adult (which is also not guaranteed to work) is because she was in a high risk setting *because of those who did not vaccinate and enabled a measles epidemic to start and spread*.

  16. 1) Anybody who has suffered a side effect after having a vaccine of any type need to have it reported to the appropriate agency.
    2) I know of gentiles calling Orthodox Jews who do not vaccinate the 'crazies'. They resent them Jews creating a dangerous environment.
    3) From my experience Orthodox Jews of my generation followed commonly accepted and approved medical practice: Surgeries, Medical tests, Vaccines etc: To do otherwise was considered an aveirah, Chillul Hashem etc:
    4) We need more Rabbis like Rabbi Slifkin to write and speak out on vaccinations.

Both groups are correct in their name calling and everything else you wrote is correct.

    2. Jews are the most intolerant people on earth. No such thing as respecting somebody else's opinion. If you don't agree with me you are a this, that or the other. Let the people who like vaccines take them and the ones that don't like them don't take them. How about that instead of all the name calling? No, can't do that with Jews and certainly not Orthodox Jews.

  17. No, fool. Because not taking vaccines endangers others. So I can't let your stupidity go unchallenged. That's the point of this post. You and your non-vaccine taking friends are killing others. You played a part in killing this airline stewardess.
In this case the orthodox jews are 'in my back yard' as I'm also an orthodox jew, so I have to do my part in cleaning up our stable. And that includes making it clear to all that you anti-vax lot are morons with blood on your hands.
Was that 'eilu va'eilu' enough for you?
(oh, yeah, I forgot, Frum Jews only get liberal about respecting others beliefs when their moronic attitudes get challenged. Otherwise they simply pour condescending abuse on liberals or goyim.)

Can't you make your arguments without being abusive? I'll bet you are a Zionist too because that's the rule with Zionists - anyone who disagrees with you is a this, that, or the other.

What does the other side say, that taking vaccines - at least preservative laden vaccines - endangers health. So they have the same sort of argument you have, a bit stronger though because you are demanding they get injected with something they deem dangerous and the danger to you is only incidental. Not only that, but you claim vaccines protect you so what does it matter if the other guy is protected or not. Won't your precious vaccine save you from all harm, if indeed it really works.

There's two sides to the argument. But you can't see that. Anybody who disagrees is an idiot. That unfortunately is very common in the Jewish world. There's no respect for the other side. No ability to see two sides of an argument. And Zionists are the worst about this. I'm guessing you are a Zionist.

      Don't you get it?"

So you can't stop yourself, huh. Every post must be condescending and abusive? Don't you realize that weakens your argument? There are 1000s of doctors who question vaccines. There are medical studies as well, one recently from Yale. If you can't see the other side of the argument, I wonder how good your arguments are for your side. Is this how you approach every argument? For example, do the Palestinians have any valid gripe against the Israelis or is that argument simple too? No other side. When Rav Moshe Sternbuch shlita wrote his teshuva on the subject recently, he mentioned the dangers of vaccines. Every medical procedure has dangers.
